About Us
Altor Solutions® is a dynamic, engineering-driven company whose goal is to design and produce superior products that help customers solve their needs for Packaging, Insulation and Componentry (PIC)™. The company dates back to 1957 as Foam Fabricators Inc. (FFI), with a single Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam molding plant making ice chests and swim toys. Throughout the years, the company led the industry in developing new applications, materials and technologies and grew into a fourteen plant operation with multi-faceted capabilities.
In July 2020 FFI acquired Polyfoam Corporation, a foam- and injection-molder out of New England with over forty years of experience engineering and manufacturing an extensive array of products. As part of its mission to offer organic and plant-based materials along with traditional plastics FFI then entered into a strategic partnership with Rational Packaging, a premier designer and manufacturer of recycled paperboard structural packaging. At the same time, FFI’s R&D group began developing R-LOK, a line of plant-based insulated containers, further expanding its material offerings.
Together, the group was rebranded Altor Solutions® – a diversified company designing solutions for Packaging, Insulation and Componentry out of a long list of material choices.
FFI acquired Plymouth Foam in October 2021, once again broadening its family of diverse businesses with extensive expertise in designing and manufacturing PIC™ solutions. Plymouth Foam is an engineering-driven company founded in 1978 and specializing in manufacturing quality engineered particle foam products. With this acquisition, the Altor family further strengthens and expands its capabilities, and extends its geographical reach to nineteen locations throughout North America.
